This year's rules require a relatively heavy airframe, thus ther is no need to build with any exotic materials, wood with tissue covering is quite adequate, and it is quite easy to achieve the minimum required weight of 8g, not including rubber motor.
A well built and trimmed model should be capable of flights of 2 mins or longer.  But this will depend on the student picking a good combination of rubber size, loop length and prop.
Kit contains full size plans, all wood parts in the kit are precision laser cut and colored Esaki tissue covering to build TWO 8g - 9g airplanes.  One 5 1/2" and one 6" Plastic prop on hanger, three lengths of 1/16" and three lengths of 3/32" FAI rubber strip for motors are included in the kit.   This will allow the student to experiament with prop size, rubber width and loop length, to pich the best match to the airplane.
You will need wood glue, glue stick, rubber lube, masking tape (1/4" wide preferred), non stick paper to finish building the model, and a 10:1 or 15:1 winder, as it will take 1200 - 2000 turns to fully wind the motor.
All wood has been carefully selected to yield a relatively robust airplane that weighs 8 - 9g.  The wing and stabilizer spars are tapered, and have built in gussets at each joint.
TRY SOME EXPERIAMENTS TO IMPROVE THE PERFORMANCE AFTER YOU HAVE SUCESS WITH THE BASID MODEL:
There are many ways you can modify the airplane to increase it's performance if you are good!  Try making a larger stabalizer and mounting it on a longer tail boom, so you can fly with a more rearward CG.  Add more subber (and turns), increase the size and pitch of the prop.  Use lightweight produce bag material for the covering, it's free after you eat the vegetables, which are good for you too!
